Wow - End of November and on to December!

We have been so busy learning and creating this month!
I'm sorry that I have not posted for so long.
Here are photos of some of our many many learning activities.

At the end of November we celebrated our study of Pilgrims and Native Americans by going to every Kindergarten classroom.
In our room we learned about a Wampanoag Indian boy named Tapenum.
We made "mishoons" or canoes.
In Mrs. Allen's room we made a Native American game.
In Mrs. Reed's room we made Poppets.
In Ms. Moore's room we made a papoose.
It was a lot of fun!

We had the Turkey Trot with Mr. Urken.
We ran/jogged/walked around the whole school!

We met with our storyteller, Jim Cogan three times.
We heard stories from him then started working on our own.
Here we are creating our stories:

Then we got to tell our stories to the rest of the class.

After we finished, Mrs. Goshert typed up our stories and we illustrated them.
Kindergarteners are storytellers!!

To celebrate our learning about insects we asked each other
what our favorite insect is, then we put it on a graph.

The first week of December brought our walking field trip.
We didn't go far, but we LOVED walking over the bridge!

Sadie and Eva dressed up for Twin Day:

We went into Mrs. Allen's room to enjoy a puppet presentation about Paul Bunyan from Harper's Grandmother.

At the end of our Artist in Residency with Mr. Hogan we had a big celebration.
We got to sing Bingo.

Then we got to sit through A LOT of stories.

The second week in December we started
Europe, Kings and Queens and Five Senses Units.
In our centers we colored the Eiffel Tower.

We got to smell lots of different things in our Science center.

We made crowns, created castles

and wooden shoes like they do in Holland. We left our wooden shoes out, filled them with straw and grass and left them on our desks.
In the morning there were candy canes in our shoes. This is what they do in Holland, Spain and several other European Countries.

We also played with royal finger puppets, knights and princesses.

After waiting so long it was December 15th and time for our field trip!

We loved riding the bus together.

 The theater was beautiful!
We were wonderful audience members and we all enjoyed the
A Very Hairy Javelina Holiday production.

We had a visit from our 5th grade buddies. We made snowmen together.

Thursday the 22nd we went to a signing party to celebrate our successful
Fun Run fundraiser. It took us awhile to figure out we were supposed to write our names on our friends shirts or papers.
Once we did, we did not want to stop.
My goodness, we are so cute!!

We also had popcorn!!

Stay tuned (tomorrow hopefully) for photos of our
Gingerbread Castle party, pajama day
and more European projects!!
